Governance

The Rt Hon Justice Susan Glazebrook, Judge of the Court of Appeal, is the patron of the Law in Schools Project.

Justice Glazebrook holds a strong interest in promoting the right to education having been instrumental in writing the reference on the right to education for the Asia Pacific Advisory Council of Jurists.  Law in Schools benefits from her advice and advocacy.

Founders

The Project was founded in 2007 by Jane Standage (Barrister and Solicitor - LLB Hons) and Catherine Fleming (Barrister and Solicitor LLB Hons). It commenced its pilot year in 2008.

Current Directors (2010)

The Directors of the Law in Schools Project for 2010 are Natasha Caldwell, James Little, Shane Henderson, and Maria Clark.

Natasha has been admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor, and holds a LLB (Hons)/BA degree from the University of Canterbury. After graduating in 2008 she started work at the Court of Appeal in 2009 as a clerk to Justice Glazebrook.
 
James has been admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor, and holds bachelors degrees in Law and Arts from Auckland University. After graduating in 2008 he worked briefly at law firm Bell Gully, before beginning at the Court of Appeal in 2009 as clerk to Justice Chambers.

Shane is in his final year studying at the University of Auckland Law School.  He is in his second year of involvement with the Law in Schools project and is also involved in the Waitakere Community Law Clinic.  During 2009, he presented modules to all participating Auckland schools involved in the program, and is currently co-Project Manager with Maria.

Maria is a student completing her final year of a BA (Psychology & History) and LLB (Hons).  She is very interested in issues affecting young people, particulary relating to the criminal justice system.  She enjoys working with high school students and university student volunteers alike within the Equal Justice Law in Schools project as it provides important opportunities for sharing knowlegde and skills and to work with younger members of the community.
